The site I created is based on the idea of myself running a website firm. I based the design around a few different sites that website developers have created. Each page on my site has a fairly different design because I am making websites this summer and clients keep asking me for examples of my work so I wanted this project to show lots of different things I am capable of doing. The content for the most part is actually about me and pictures I took but not everything. The site has minimal content because there really are only a few things I want people to see and usability testing showed people very easily found what I wanted them to find. I used large fonts, minimal text and large links as many of the perspective clients are older and probably have poor eye sight. I did my best to create a usable but attractive site based on the content and design of real website firms.
I just wanted to add a quick note that there were not many large changes to the site during my usability testing for two reasons. 1: I forgot to start testing until I was about halfway throught the site. 2: The main reason is people were easily able to find what I wanted them to find because the concept of the site is simple. I created this site as if I had a website development business. I only need people to find my contact information, resume and a few other simple things and everyone I tested found all these things within 2 clicks.
For this round of testing I do not have any before and after pictures because the only change I made as a result of this round of testing was a link(not gonna show change of code). Every change made after this test was just to improve the look, not the function.
